What we collect

We do not require accounts. VINs and numbers you type into calculators are processed in your browser; VIN lookups are sent directly from your browser to NHTSA’s public vPIC API. If you join the reminder list, we store your email address only to send those reminders, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance.

Cookies and advertising

We may show ads served by third-party vendors, including Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Where required (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we will ask for consent through a certified consent tool before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.

Analytics and affiliates

We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits. Some links may be affiliate links; if you click and buy, the partner may set a cookie to credit us. See disclosures.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, delete, or opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, see Contact.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date above.
